Term Topic – Fauvism – What Students Will Do and Learn

By the end of the term, students will produce a major expressive artwork on canvas, inspired by the wild colour and bold style of the Fauvist masters. Throughout the term, they will:

Learn from the Masters:
Students will explore the works of renowned Fauvist artists such as Henri Matisse, André Derain, and Maurice de Vlaminck, learning how they used vibrant colours and simplified forms to express emotion and energy.

Engage in Hands-On Learning:
Through drawing, painting, collage, and mixed media, students will develop core artistic skills while experimenting with expressive techniques and fearless colour combinations.

Create Personalized Artworks:
Encouraged to think beyond realism, students will tap into their imagination and emotions to produce bold, unique works that reflect their own perspective and creativity.
