Likely Salaries (Australia, 2025 Estimates)

Salaries vary by experience, location (higher in Sydney/Melbourne), full-time vs freelance, and whether supplemented by teaching/other work. Pure fine art practice often yields lower creative income, with most artists combining roles.

Role Average Annual Salary (AUD) Notes
Fine Artist/Sculptor $60,000–$85,000 (full-time equivalent) Entry ~$60k; experienced $80k+. Creative income alone often $14,000–$23,000; many supplement with other jobs.
Visual Arts Teacher $75,000–$90,000 Full-time or Casual school roles; casual ~$35–$40/hour.
Prop Maker/Model Maker $70,000–$85,000 Film/theatre/prototyping; higher in specialised industries.
Gallery/Studio Technician $65,000–$80,000 Institutional roles with stable benefits.

These tangible skills in 3D form-making, problem-solving, and material expertise give graduates a competitive edge in creative industries, with strong potential for portfolio-based freelance work or progression to higher-paid specialised roles. Many find fulfilment in combining passion projects with stable teaching or technical positions.
