Art Clay Silver Overlay Paste – 15g
Art Clay Silver Overlay Paste Description
Art Clay Silver Overlay Paste is a specialized, water-based product designed for use on non-porous or glazed surfaces such as porcelain, ceramics, and glass. Composed of pure silver particles, a non-toxic organic binder, and water, this paste allows artists to create intricate silver designs or embellishments on these materials, transforming them into 99% pure silver after firing. It is ideal for decorating fused glass, glazed porcelain, or ceramic pieces, and can be applied by painting, stenciling, or sgraffito techniques to achieve detailed patterns or textures.
The paste is versatile, with adjustable viscosity through the addition of distilled water, enabling various application methods like brushing or layering. It fires at low temperatures (650°C/1202°F to 800°C/1472°F) for 30 minutes in a kiln, making it compatible with Art Clay Silver or PMC3 for repairs or bonding silver clay pieces. After firing, the surface appears white and matte due to silver crystallization but can be polished to a lustrous finish using tools like a stainless brush, burnisher, or sandpaper. The paste shrinks 8–10% during firing, and some silver settling may occur, requiring thorough stirring before use. To maintain its consistency, keep the container tightly capped, and rehydrate with distilled water if it dries out. It is an ecological product, using 100% recycled silver, and is safe for use with proper handling, though it should not be used in microwave ovens or ingested.
This product is perfect for artists seeking to add fine silver details to their work, offering both creative flexibility and professional results.
