Pathways to WSU Bachelor of Design

SAS graduates are eligible to apply to Western Sydney University (WSU) for the Bachelor of Design Visual Communication course.

How to Apply

All applicants must first submit either an application

via https://westernsydney.uac.edu.au/ws/

Entry requirements

The ATAR cut-off for Bachelor of Design Visual Communications in 2017 was 75.

Non school-leaver applicants without an ATAR will have their Sydney Art School qualifications assessed and a rank allocated, which is comparable to the ATAR.

Advanced Standing

If their application is successful and once they’ve enrolled in their WSU design degree, students can apply for ‘advanced standing’/credits with the potential to receive between 10 credit points and 80 credit points of credit (a standard subject is worth 10cp, and intensive studio subjects are 20cp). Advanced Standing is determined on an individual basis, and depends on the students’ prior learning, results, work experience, and portfolio as applicable.

Since the Sydney Art School courses are accredited, your Certificate IV, Diploma/Advanced Diploma in Visual Arts are assessable for admission purposes. In other words, SAS graduates are eligible to apply for advanced standing, but the amount of credits they may be given is not guaranteed.
