"This is a class for anyone who wants to learn the art of painting a painting in acrylic or oil "



In this class you will be encouraged to explore different colours and techniques to be always looking for the "better" painting.
In the process you will be guided to create one or more finished art works.

Topics Covered

Also covered will be instruction on choice and use of acrylic and oil media, including strengths and limitations.

During the course the tutor will demonstrate and instruct students on;

Composition, design and balance. 
Creating an foundation drawing using pencil or charcoal.
Lines and edges
Positive and negative spaces
Light and shade, contrast and Tones
Colour mixing

Materials: choice,  use and care of , paints, canvasses, brushes. Chemistry of acrylic paints.
Choice of subject matter. Preparatory drawing

Choice of colours relevant to the style and subject
Mixing colours and the colour wheel, warm and cool colours
Initial application of colours to the student's painting

Consideration of light and shade relevant to the style and subject.
Practical application to the student's painting

Framing options and considerations.

 

Choice of Subject

Students may draw and from life, still-life or from photographic material.   For students wishing to draw the human figure a live model will be used from time to time.
